School Year Classes
Keep the creativity flowing month after month with fine arts classes for children, teens and adults. Classes meet once a week throughout the academic year. KitsapArt School’s small class sizes, individualized instruction and continually changing art curriculum allow for rolling enrollment, which means students can join at any time.
Classes are grouped by age as a starting point, but class placement is flexible according to skill level. Check out the descriptions below to learn more about our current offerings. The tuition prices listed below are based on four classes. Tuition is due on the first of each month and will be adjusted depending on the specific start date, as well as holiday closures.
This class brings out the inner artist in our beginners! Our fun projects are geared toward developing drawing and painting skills, while also encouraging individual creativity and expression. In this engaging class, students learn fundamental art elements , including line, shape, texture, color, value and space by drawing their favorite animals, characters, still life, vehicles and more. Students are taught drawing skills and media techniques; however, each student works with his or her own vision to produce unique finished pieces. Media includes: marker, paint, chalk and oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolors and more.

This class teaches older beginners to trust their artistic instincts using the same step-by-step structure as our younger classes. Students learn fundamental drawing and painting concepts as they gain confidence building skills to make their own artistic decisions. Students in this class will advance their proficiency by bringing more three-dimensionality and realism to their work. Emphasis is placed on shading, perspective, composition and developing a finished piece. Media includes: chalk and oil pastels, markers, graphite, colored pencils, watercolor and acrylic paints.

This flexible class not only provides advanced students with the opportunity to begin working more independently, but also offers beginning students in this age group guided drawings as needed. Exploring a full range of subjects – including the human form, animals, nature, still life and landscape – students are introduced to creating more three dimensional and realistic artwork through the use of shading, perspective and composition. As they begin mastering techniques and media, students are encouraged to develop their own style and creative approach, with a continued focus on visual training, planning and process. Media includes: chalk and oil pastels, markers, graphite and colored pencils, watercolors and acrylic paints.

Imagine learning basic drawing techniques while cartooning! We will practice anime and facial features to create expressive faces, explore ways to quickly and simply create original character shapes with action, movement and style. Throughout the school year we will continue to create scenes and stories using our characters.

In addition to weekly classes, Kitsap Art offers a variety of one time events for all ages!
