Keep the creativity flowing month after month with fine arts classes for children, teens and adults. Classes meet once a week throughout the academic year. KitsapArt School’s small class sizes, individualized instruction and continually changing art curriculum allow for rolling enrollment, which means students can join at any time.

Get to know your creative self in our Adult/Teen art class! This class is geared toward students who have either a beginning or intermediate level of confidence. It’s a completely safe, relaxed, non-judgmental environment where students can develop their drawing skills and learn a wide range of art techniques. Our approach is designed to give students the perfect balance of increased technical skill and confidence, while also providing room to explore and experiment without worrying. Media used includes: watercolors and acrylic paints, chalk and oil pastels, markers, graphite and colored pencils. We are an ongoing program. All art supplies are included.

Watercolor
Class

Wade into the wild world of watercolors and explore various watercolor techniques!
In this class, each project will highlight useful watercolor tricks and painting techniques including; wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry approaches, how to paint various types of washes, color theory, and creating interesting textures.
Take home a finished painting each week!

Oil Painting Class

Fridays 6:30 - 8:30 pm
(6 week session)

In this no-pressure oil painting class, learn how to combine classical techniques with modern day subject matter. Topics covered include: composition and design, color theory, how to develop a monochromatic underpainting, and building up opaque and transparent layers of paint to create paintings of great richness and depth.

Bring a small still life or image to paint. Ideas include: portraits, landscapes, a still life, or a favorite photograph to work from. It must mean something special to you! Different ideas will also be brought to class, but ultimately the subject matter is your choice.
*If bringing a photograph, it is easiest to get started if the image is printed prior to the start of class.*
